Children’s lives are so different today than when I was a child….granted dinosaurs were still roaming around.
Childhood obesity & juvenile diabetes are very common. Parents….please…you are setting your children up for a lifetime of health issues and a shortened lifespan.
One major difference in the times is the kind of food that kids eat today. Fast food and sugar are staples in their diets. Our bodies are made to live and thrive off of fresh vegetables and greens. And, in my humble opinion, the other main issue is that most children spend very little time outside in the fresh air and sunshine. We are designed to be outdoors to absorb Vitamin D from the sun, breath “unconditioned” air, walk, run, play, use our imaginations, and appreciate God’s creation.
Technology is here to stay, there is no going back at this point. But this does not mean that we as parents cannot regulate and limit how much time our children are allowed to use it. It is our responsibility, no matter how much they scream and complain. Go to any restaurant, look around. Families, friends are sitting at the same table, but are not having conversations….they are on their phones. Parents are just as guilty of this. What a price these kids will pay when they have no idea how to have a conversation and connect one on one with each other.
