I have recently discovered Peter Marshall. During a sleepless night, I turned on the TV and watched and old movie “A Man Named Peter.” It was about a Scotsman named Peter Marshall who immigrated to the United States. He was a dynamic preacher and eventually became to the Senate. His sermons were so powerful in the movie that I decided to do a little research on him. I found out that there are books published with some of his sermons and prayers. I found this example as part of a sermon that he gave.
“No tabloid will ever print the startling news that the mummified body of Jesus of Nazareth has been discovered in Old Jerusalem. Christians have no carefully embalmed body enclosed in a glass case to worship. Thank God we have an empty tomb. The glorious fact that the empty tomb proclaims to us is that life for us does not stop when death comes. Death is not a wall, but a door.”
